AnnArbor.com Endorses Paul Schreiber for Ypsilanti Mayoral Race

Excerpt: Schreiber’s stance on the issue reflects the pragmatic approach he takes to city issues, as one might expect from an electronic engineer. Re-Elect Ypsilanti Mayor Paul Schreiber

Over the past four years, I’ve worked very hard to earn the respect of Ypsilanti citizens, erase old battle-lines, and bring people together with constructive solutions to our city’s many challenges,” says Schreiber. “If re-elected to another term, I intend to continue to provide strong vision, representation, and communication to the office of the mayor of Ypsilanti.

Ypsilanti is transforming itself from a 20th century industrial city to a 21st century cultural city. Policies that encourage developers to invest in downtown -- including new loft apartments, retail stores, restaurants and nightclubs, and the recent addition of the SPARK East small business incubator are keys to this vision.

As Mayor, I will continue to effectively represent the city of Ypsilanti on Washtenaw County organizations. I will continue to pursue federal and state funds for transportation, housing, and recreation. Over the past four years, Ypsilanti has benefitted from Habitat for Humanity renovations of existing houses as well as a $78,000 renovation of the Parkridge Community Center. In the future, funds will be directed to demolish dangerous buildings in our city.

Finally, I will continue to communicate information – good and bad – through Mayor Updates and frequent communication with the news media. Our residents must be knowledgeable to maintain the strength and resilience of our city. I will also continue to run orderly and respectful city council meetings where people can express their views regardless of affiliation or orientation.

I am very proud of the accomplishments over the last four years, but there is still much work to be done. That is why I seek re-election.

Sincerely,
PAUL SCHREIBER
